VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT - LENA!
'I'm a Rochester native, soon-to-be senior at Syracuse University. After switching majors six times I decided to study English Textual Studies and Photojournalism -- two passions of mine. I am also passionate about community service. On campus I am an active member of Alpha Phi Omega, the national community service fraternity. Through my summer internship with the City of Rochester's Southeast Neighborhood Service Center I was presented the opportunity to divide my time and work with RochesterCares. What a fun experience it's been! I learned so much about non-profits and realized there is a great base of willing volunteers in my own community. I set up the RochesterCares project at the Monroe County fair, attended several Dazzle Theater clean-ups and worked doing maintenance in our own office. I began a blog for RochesterCares (RC) which will hopefully connect RC with a younger population and keep our volunteers abreast of exciting news from RC."
